Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act
The Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (HR 5587) was introduced in the US House of Representatives in June 2016 with bipartisan support. This bill is the latest reauthorization of the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act, first passed in 1984, which provides federal support to state and local career and technical education programs in secondary and postsecondary institutions. These programs can be a key to success for individuals with Down syndrome preparing for life after completing their education.
