NDSS is excited to participate in the PLAY Campaign for the second year in a row. PLAY, which stands for Promoting a Lifetime of Activity for Youth, is a public awareness campaign of the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society® (PBATS), in conjunction with the Taylor Hooton Foundation (www.TaylorHooton.org), and the Henry Schein Cares Foundation. The PLAY Campaign combats child obesity and promotes healthy living and decision making among young people in America.
This year, NDSS will be partnering with PLAY events in 12 cities across the country. NDSS will be able to bring a limited numbers of participants with Down syndrome to each of the events. The events run for approximately two hours, and the kids are put into groups and rotate through a series of stations with the athletic trainers to include skills drills, nutrition information, and Q&A time, sometimes including MLB players.
