About Kayla’s Korner

For those who are just now tuning in or have been tuning in, my name is Kayla McKeon and I am the host of Kayla’s Korner. Kayla’s Korner is a podcast where I talk to Members of Congress, the National Down Syndrome Society board of directors and self-advocates.

When I interview the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) Board of Directors, I ask what inspires them to work for NDSS, I also speak to the issues and challenges we are facing today and how they overcome them.

When I talk to Members of Congress I talk to them about issues in today’s society, why they chose to be in this field, what they stand for and the difference they strive to make.

I love speaking with self-advocates about various topics such as our rights like voting, education and employment. I talk to them about advocacy and what they are doing in their states to advocate for themselves, I ask them what their favorite part of being a self-advocate is and what it means to them.

My favorite part of doing Kayla’s Korner is meeting different people and talking to them about what’s important to them. It’s important to me, because it allows us to have a conversation about the issues and successes surrounding the disability community.

You can find my podcast by visiting www.ndss.org, when you’re on the site, scroll to the bottom of the page, click on the orange icon and follow the link to SoundCloud, to listen to my podcast. This is the best way to listen and locate Kayla’s Korner. Stay tuned.
