2018 Annual buddy walk® on Washington and 2018 Adult summit

The NDSS Annual Buddy Walk® on Washington is an annual two-day advocacy conference that brings the Down syndrome community together to advocate for legislative priorities that impact the lives of people with Down syndrome and their families. The event includes a day of advocacy training at the Westin Arlington Gateway in Arlington, Virginia, on April 10th, and visits to congressional offices on Capitol Hill on April 11th. For more information, see the hotel information and schedule and frequently asked questions, or contact [email protected].

In addition to our annual advocacy conference on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 10 and 11, 2018, NDSS is excited to announce its New (and Annual) 2018 NDSS Down Syndrome Adult Summit, which will be held on Monday, April 9 and Tuesday, April 10 leading up to our 2018 Annual Buddy Walk® on Washington.

Our Annual NDSS Down Syndrome Adult Summit is a new conference hosted by NDSS and its Self-Advocate Advisory Board (SAAB) to cover important and critical topics for all adults with Down syndrome. Our partnerships with the National Task Group on Intellectual Disabilities and Dementia Practices (NTG) and the National Alliance for Caregiving (NAC) will allow us to engage with individuals with Down syndrome and their caregivers from adolescence to adulthood. Speakers and topics will align with NDSS’ robust, comprehensive programs and pillars – including healthcare/research, inclusive education, community integration, economic self-sufficiency as well as employment and our NDSS #DSWORKS® Campaign. Aging-related changes and health issues, including Alzheimer’s disease, will also be covered.

The registration fee for the 2018 Adult Summit is $50 per person, Adults ages 18
and up are welcome to attend. For more information, see the hotel information and schedule and frequently asked questions, or contact [email protected].
