My name is Belinda Hogan and i have a 54-year-old friend with Down syndrome named Janie Lane. I'm 59-years-old and I have known Janie and her mom since I was 12-years-old. I used to babysit Janie and her brother and went places with Lillie and the kids and we became very close because they live down the street. Lillie Lane made me promise to take Janie and raise her if she died cause Janie wouldn't be happy. I've had Janie for 17 years. She goes to a workshop Monday through Friday. Janie isn't on any medicine and the doctor is suprised because she is in such good health. I have to run her water, wash her hair and fix her food but she walks on her own and gets up and goes to the bathroom by herself. Janie has aways been part of my family because we all knew her. I have 4 grandsons who Janie loves to death. McDonalds is the only place she asks to go. We go shopping and go out to eat and we visit with her brother and she loves that. I've had a lot of people say I was crazy for taking on Janie when my 2 children were out of school but I made that promise to her mom and her brother tried everything but she needed a woman's touch. I kept my promise and Janie is very happy and I know Lillie is too.
