The Gift

Four years ago in Heaven, I was anxious to see the world.
To meet my Mom and Dad... they prayed I'd be a girl.

When the Lord asked me if I would go, and complete this family,
I ran and found my brother; he cried tears of joy for me.

Aiden told me that they needed someone who's special just like me.
I told him I would do my best, and he hugged me lovingly.

On the day of my departure, the Lord came to me and said,
I want for you to bear this gift. It's special, please don't dread.

I told Him I would love to share His gift with all the world.
He gave me strength and love and health to make it full of furor.

Upon my unexpected arrival into the world so big,
My Mom and Dad so worried as I was not a "normal" kid.

As weeks went on, I tried to remember what the Lord had asked of me,
That the gift would not be easy for most of the world to see.

As my heart grew stronger, day by day, my family fell in love.
They held me, fed me, kissed me, and knew they'd been blessed from up above.

At times when my family's down, a gentle pat from me they need.
Or my bright, white smile, or scrunched up nose or face they long to see.

I think I understand what the Lord has given me.
The nature of my innocence, and love I give for free.

And now I know the purpose that He sent so lovingly,
Only special people see the gift He placed with care in me.

Love, Aunt Kristi
