I was 26 when I had my Sarah. I was on bed rest for 4 months with her, but we had no idea she was going to have Down syndrome. She came into the world at 8 lbs 13 oz and she seemed healthy. The doctors did not catch there was a problem but a day after she was born she turned blue when we were holding her. They found there was a problem but not anything linked to the Down syndrome. Again no one mentioned or thought she had Down syndrome. That evening aroung 11 pm an older nurse came in after I buzzed then because I thought Sarah should have came in for nursing. The nurse sat on my bed and said we gave her a bottle about 1/2 hour ago. I saw your daughter and I think the doctors missed that she is one of those kids. I said what are you talking about. She said I ordered a test but I know she has Down syndrome and you should not get attached to her. It would be better for you and your husband to put her away and forget about her. Needless to say I was on the phone with everyone at midnight. That nurse did not finish her shift. Well almost 16 years later my daughter Sarah is a beautiful, smart teenager. I can't imagine life with out her. She was born in 1994 I can't believe there were still people like this in the world. Sarah loves life, she has two sisters, she likes swimming, family events, Disney and things a normal teenage girls likes. She has a laugh that lights up a room. Remember God only gives these special people to special families!
