Rebekah and Ada

My daughter, Rebekah, has Down syndrome, and will be 18 in October 2012. All her life, Rebekah has shown great compassion towards others, and is very sensitive to the moods of her family, church family, and friends. She also gets along well with everyone – children and adults – and has often been trusted to hold newborn babies because of her gentle nature. In December 2011, Rebekah’s cousin had a third daughter, Ada, who also has Down syndrome. We had the opportunity to visit with that part of our family in February, 2012, and I snapped this picture of the two girls.

It is amazing and really encouraging to see what older people with DS are capable of. My daughter is 4 and already has made great progress. I love seeing stories like this. There are no limits to what our children can do.
