Rebecca
Rebecca

My sister Rebecca is mostly the most important thing to me in the whole wide world. Kids my age, younger and older think most of the time their siblings are pains. I do not agree with them. Rebecca is different and my family knows that. My family is a little different, but it is a loving one. My sister has Down syndrome. She has an extra part in her body that we have one pair of. It is a bit rare. A few of my sister's friends have it too. Some think she is different, but we don't even notice. As we walk by, my sister and I, people stare at her. It makes me feel uncomfortable and down, but I lift my chin and move on. I tell my mom at night, but she says, "They judge her by her cover." I think to myself, "they don't know how great she is." She is my big sister, she is 13 now and I am 9. I am her big, little sister. She is turning out to love music. She sits on the couch while I play piano. She rocks in her seat because she can't explain, but I know what she means. Some people think when we walk into a movie or musical that, "Oh, not going to be good." I get surprised sometimes on how she fits in, but that is how capable she is. She laughs at movies, and her eyes are wide open at musicals. She can do a lot of sports, like dancing, swimming and basketball; she proves she can do it all. I did dancing with her at first, but now she is a pro. Swimming she did all by herself. We play basketball together on the driveway. We also scooter together, we share it. We skate together on the ice. She is doing Special Olympics. In both skating and swimming. You're surprised of what she can do. She is my loving, sweet, caring, helpful sister, and you can't have her. My mom will have two kids with braces soon. I love her more than anything. I know that she is capable of doing anything anyone can do. She is my special, sister buddy!
