My son Chandler was diagnosed with Down syndrome at birth. The minute they put him in my arms and I saw those almond-shaped eyes I knew that he was special. I cried tears of joy and uncertainty three years ago, but now everyday he reassures me with those same eyes and bright smile. He hugs me and everything is right with the world, and there are more "ups" than "downs" to having "a little something extra."He inspires everyone he meets and has taught us all a valuable lesson. Even the best gifts may not have perfect wrapping on the outside. It is the gift inside that counts. My biggest blessing by far has been the smallest. He is truly a blessing. He was put in my life for a reason. It was destiny. When he laughs, it is like music; his smile, like sunshine and you feel as if you are wrapped up in the arms of angel when he hugs you. Everyone he meets falls in love with him instantly, just as I did the day he was born. He has taught me a lot about love and life, and that each one has value. His, is priceless.
