My Son

I wished for children, and was blessed with two sons. My first, robust; my second frail. Attention was turned toward my second. Down syndrome, they said. Much effort given to him, who needed so much, while his brother stood by helping and listening. Others marveled how well the little frail one did, while one unsung hero stood by. An adult, the frail one participates in Special Olympics, and has a full life, his brother is still standing by. Today I would like to thank my older son for the kindness, love and time he has given to his little brother. Daniel is an aid for Community Living now - this acquired skill, shared with others. Daniel, you are his hero.
