My Family is a Car

My name is Katie Vaughan and I am mom to Ashley (10), Lauren (7 ) and 5 year old twins, Will and Jake. Will was born with Down syndrome. Ashley came home from school the other day and told me that they had to write a poem in school but they weren't allowed to have any help. She thought hers was the best one. Without having seen any of the others, I think she was right. This is her poem. "My Family is a Car: Dad is the engine, strong and powerful, but really loud. Mom is the seat belt and keeps us safe though sometimes it hurts Lauren is the DVD player since she watches it so often. Will and Jake are the headlights who have shown us the way. Molly, the lab-spaniel mix, is the tire. Pure black and moves fast and swift. And I'm the metal because I keep us all together with my love." I just love that she's only 10 but knows that Will and Jake have shown us the way!
