My Daughter
My Daughter

My daughter has Down syndrome and she is the sweetest person. She is blessed because she can do everything to make it in life. She is 27 years old an she works every day from 9:00 AM through 3:00 PM. She is a member of Compass Point, which is a vacation club, and they take her on trips and out to dinner once or twice a month. I am her mother and I take her on many trips. She enjoy traveling, movies and music. My only regret is that she doesn't have a true friend that she can call and hang out with. I love my daughter very much and I wish that one day people will fully accept her as a person and not a person with a disability.

I am a Graduate Student at McDaniel College in Westminster Maryland in the Community Mental Health track. I am currently in a course and my professor provided our class with this link to learn more about down syndrome and to understand the individuals environmental struggles and challenges the individual and family have faced. I thought your story showed that you are a loving, supportive, and caring mother. Your story was very touching. Thank you!
