My Brother Conner

My name is Abby DeGroot and I have a brother with Down syndrome. He was born on October 1, 2005, my 13th birthday! After my family found out that Conner had Down syndrome, we were all distraught and sad for him. I thought he would live this underpriviledged and depressing life, but that was very much a lie. We all eventually came around, however, and realize what a blessing Conner is to our family, friends, and community. He brings a smile to everyone's face around him. He has taught my familly to trust in God's plans, we've met many people we wouldn't have met without him, and we've all been taught great patience. So if you have a new child with Down syndrome and are reading this, take it from me that your child will be even more of a blessing than you can imagine!
