My story is about my baby brother Isaiah Cruz. My mom was in labor with him for 11 hours. When he came out my dad saw him turning blue and purple because the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck! When my dad saw that he was turning different colors he told the doctors to get him out and help him! After they fixed his breathing the doctors came in and told my mom and dad that their son had Down syndrome. They worried that they didn't know how they were going to take care of this child and what kind of help they would need for him physically and for his speech. The doctors said that children with Down syndrome do not live very long but that was in 2004 and now we are in 2012 and my baby, spoiled-rotten, brother is alive and healthy and he is eight years old! :) He is in the third grade and loves every moment of school! The doctors were so wrong!
