My daughter, Caytlin touches hearts and leaves a lasting impression everywhere she goes. She is kind and loving and always spreads joy to others as she faces the everyday challenges while traveling through the journey of life. Caytlin will be celebrating World Down Syndrome Day as Deputy Mayor for our city. Caytlin met the Mayor at the "Walk for the Homeless" which was an annual event put on by the Muncie Mission. Caytlin was a participant of this event to help raise money for the homeless. Mayor Dennis Tyler was impressed with Caytlin's personality and asked her if she would like to become Deputy Mayor of Muncie, Indiana on March 21, 2013, and of course Caytlin answered "yes." She is excited and cannot wait to learn firsthand how our city is operated. She is looking forward to riding on a fire truck and visiting with her most favorite people in uniform—the police officers. She also has the opportunity to have lunch with the Mayor. Life has been one big adventure since I gave birth to Caytlin and I am very proud of her and thankful that I was chosen to be her mother. I have had no road map to follow, but I am very thankful that there are teachers such as Mrs. Brittany Bales, who chose to pursue the role of special education instructor. Without teachers such as Mrs. Bales, I would have been lost. They have helped guide me, together with my loving family who has loved Caytlin from the moment she was born. It did not matter that Caytlin was not considered "perfect" by some people, she was lovingly accepted by my family and we could not imagine life without her.
