Cooper Doyle

I want to tell you about a little boy who came into my life under very different circumstances. Hi name is Cooper Patrick Doyle and when I look at him I cannot think of a more fitting name for this little guy. He is COOPER! Copper has Down syndrome and he was born on July 27, 2007. He is the son of Patti and Patrick Doyle. His mother is my daughter-in-law who was previously married to my son. She is and will always be my daughter-in-law. I have known Patti since she was fifteen. During her pregnancy she was told that her baby may have a problem but for Patti and Pat it didn't matter. Cooper came into this world under stressful circumstances. He came early and at the time Patrick was attending his mother's funeral. He got a call from Patti saying that she had to go to the hospital. The funeral was put on hold so Patrick could rush Patti to the hospital. It was a difficult birth and when Cooper arrived he was in distress with a hole in his heart' and he was a baby with Down syndrome. Cooper remained in the hospital for 6 weeks while they operated and closed the hole in his heart. Finally Cooper was brought home and life for everyone will never be the same. He is the light of everyone's life including me. I have been honored to be called "Poppa" by Cooper and have the opportunity to be part of his life. Cooper came into this world as my sister Susan was about to leave it. My sister also had Down syndrome and at the age of 56 she passed away. Susan was also the light of the Pariseau family. She made our life wonderful and losing her was very difficult to handle. But then came Cooper and in some strange way God has given to us another light in our lives. I so truly believe that Susan passed the baton to Cooper and said "here Cooper, it is your turn to keep the beauty, compassion, and meaning to our families lives." Cooper is surrounded by love from so many family, and non-family members. He has wonderful parents, three beautiful sisters; Alexis Eileen Pariseau (my granddaughter), Megan Doyle (Patricks daughter) and Cam (Patrick and Pattis daughter who was born 2 years after Cooper). There is also Patti's adopted parents (Grammie and Grampie), Patti's birth mother, Jennifer (Grammie Jen), her husband and daughters, Patti's brothers and Patrick's birth mother and sister. Then there is my son Kyle, my daughter Lisa, granddaughters Brianna, Cassidy, son-in-law Fran and me. We are not blood relatives except for Alex but we have been blessed to be invited to this beautiful party. When I see my son Kyle with Cooper and see the love he has for him I know that my sister is looking down and saying "This is good and this is the way it should be' my work is done." I write this with deep love and affection for all of my families...The Pariseaus, Doyles, Newtons, Boiselles.
