July 6, 2009, Monday Let me tell you a little something about Kayla's first day of school: Kayla looked extremely cute in her Gymboree white blouse with yellow flowers, her little Capri jeans and her white Crocs with charms on them. She looked like the little fashion model that she is, practicing her good-bye wave as we walked to her school. Kayla of course brought her entourage with her on her first day of school: Gaby, Matt and Mommy. She met her first little friend at the "welcome" room in school and Kayla felt at home. They served us cookies, juice and more cookies. Just what Kayla needs to energize her for a full week! Well, to my surprise, the class lunch for the first day was ravioli and the children are supposed to learn to feed themselves. When I saw what was being served, a picture of Kayla's beautiful white and yellow blouse flashed before my eyes only it was full of tomato sauce and chunks of pasta! I made a mad dash to her and helped her feed herself to make the anticipated mess a little less than what flashed in my head and it worked. A little soaking with Clorox and prewash, and the blouse is as good as new! Kayla arrived home after school about 2:30pm, decided to crash on the floor of the living room with Gaby and they shared some quality time together after a very hectic first day of school. Kayla loves her big sister! After her first day of school, Kayla needed some time alone and decided to climb into my display cabinet to retreat from all of the hustle and bustle of her first day at school. Needless to say, this cabinet has become her permanent retreat spot after I pick her up from the baby-sitter. I hope you all enjoy her picture and can imagine how wonderful it is to be around my little girl...that is, of course, when she is not pinching or hitting everyone! She has actually gotten better with controlling the hitting and we are now working on the pinching! LOL We missed the bus on the first day of school, but we didn't get in trouble yet!
