I have special daughter who has inspired me so much. We live in a rural area and we do not have a lot of resources for outreach. This has inspired me to create the 3-21 World Down Syndrome Day Celebration and Balloon Walk to raise awareness in our small community about Down syndrome. We are able to put on a totally free event and give wonderful door prizes away to the participants. We have inflatables for the kids, face painting, emergency/medical demonstrations, goody bags, cloggers, free refreshments, and we walk three short laps to represent three copies of the 21st chromosome. At the end of the event, all participants who have Down syndrome receive a medal!
