My Great Story - Christopher Yancy
My Great Story - Christopher Yancy

When Christopher was born, his mother said “he is destined for great things . . . he is going to make a huge impact on this world”. And even though he is only 10 years old, he has already had a huge impact on so many individuals’ lives. And this is only the beginning for this very talented and charismatic young man. Christopher’s mother has hosted many foreign exchange students over the years. Several from Germany and Denmark. One such student, Nici, had never been exposed to anyone with special needs. However, after spending a year as Christopher’s older sister, she returned to Germany to become a special needs school teacher due to the strong influence of this small child. At age 3, Christopher picked up the camera and has not been able to put it down since. His first published photograph was when he was 5 years old. At age 9 he won an art competition for his photography at state level and was written about in the newspaper for his accomplishments. Last year, Christopher made the acquaintance of Jay Cunningham, owner of Superior Plumbing. Christopher made such an impact on Mr. Cunningham, that he was invited to be his special guest to the Atlanta Braves game in the Superior Plumbing Suite. During that game, Christopher made many high level friends such as Tom Glavine, Chip Carey, Joe Simpson, Don Sutton and Jim Powell. So much so that Christopher was invited to the game again and again hob-nobbing with individuals like Bobby Cox, Evander Holyfield, Tommy Lasorda, Governor and Lady Deal. He has also been invited to be a special guest at the Atlanta Braves Induction Ceremony of the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY this coming July. The day Christopher was born, his mother asked the doctor, “what does the future look like for my son?” and the doctor responded, “the best you can hope for is for him to be a greeter at Walmart”. I dare say, he has already exceeded that expectation and how!
