Blake: My Little Maven

Blake is about to embark on his modeling career. He will be one of the models featured in the upcoming Holiday Look Book for Actress/Author Tori Spelling’s Little Maven clothing line. Tori has also cast the well deserved spotlight on a beautiful girl named Grace, who also happens to have designer genes. The Little Maven brand is all about inclusion for ALL kids and is currently running a contest for ANY child, regardless of ability to enter and participate. This is much more than a fun opportunity for Blake. I feel like it marks the first steps on his journey to inclusion and a milestone in my quest to have more exposure in mainstream media for people with Down syndrome. Let’s face it, we are a media driven society and this can be the new educational public forum. Blake is not even three yet and I feel that his life has already made such an impact. I am so grateful for people like Tori who use their public platforms to help promote change, education, respect and inclusion. They say a journey of a thousand miles starts with one step and this is the proverbial step for Blake. Being a Little Maven extends beyond personal style and has a deeper meaning than the clothes. Blake represents hope that we will all one day live in a world that celebrates differences instead of quantifying and judging them. We are on our way to a world where compassion, respect and inclusion will never go out of style. My sincere thanks to Tori Spelling, Mehran Farhat and the Little Maven team for making this great story possible for my son and being the catalyst for positive change.

All children should live in a world that celebrates their differences. We are all unique in our own way. Living life should be a happy journey and I am thrilled to see so many opportunities coming to light for children with Down syndrome. Congratulations to Blake and his family. Well done Tori Spelling! Well done!
