Sample Buddy Walk® Committee Tasks & Responsibilities

Committee Member #1 - Chairperson

  • Schedule monthly meetings and meeting locations
  • Propose sub-committees and responsibilities
  • Oversee work of all committee members
  • Follow-up with committee members
  • Secure locations and necessary permits

Committee Member #2 - Public Relations

  • Responsible for creating a save the date card/flyer and brochure
  • Contact media sources about the event
  • Distribute public service announcements (PSA) to local media outlets
  • Create media kits for the day of event
  • Schedule interviews for radio, TV and newspapers
  • Prepare photo shot list and work with photographer at event
  • Serve as contact at event for all media inquiries
  • Report on media coverage to committee

Committee Member #3 - Sponsorship/Donations

  • Responsible for developing sponsorship proposals, including sponsor benefits and values
  • Highlight successes of last year's event and build on best practices
  • Speak on behalf of the organization to secure product donations/financial contributions
  • Handle all logistics related to donation pick-ups and deliveries
  • Prepare and send acknowledgement letters to all donors after the event

Committee Member #4 - Community Outreach

  • Work closely with other committee members to produce outreach materials
  • Distribute posters and flyers to all outlets
  • Set-up appointments with schools, local disability organizations, hospitals or other social service centers and corporations to promote team participation
  • Be available to make speeches or attend events to promote Walk to community
  • Prepare and send acknowledgement letters to all groups that participated in the Walk

Committee Member #5- Volunteer Coordinator

  • Responsible for writing up volunteer needs and descriptions
  • Recruit volunteers
  • Host a volunteer orientation
  • Assign specific volunteer responsibilities
  • Order/design volunteer attire (t-shirts) for event
  • Manage volunteers the day of the event
  • Prepare and send acknowledgement letters to all volunteers after event
