Alison Owen became an NDSS Sports Ambassador in 2014. Ms. Owen is a professional pitcher for the Akron Racers, National Pro Fastpitch and chose to support NDSS due to our shared vision of a world where all people with Down syndrome have the opportunity to enhance their quality of life, realize their life aspirations and become valued members of welcoming communities.
"I am so excited to work with the National Down Syndrome Society! I am fortunate to be able to raise awareness for such a great organization. I chose NDSS because one of my closest friends had a niece, Marley, who was six when she passed from complications related to Down syndrome. Marley had a shorter life than most but her fight and constant smile was absolutely inspiring. I want to be a small part in a cause that changes the lives of beautiful human beings. I am so excited to be a part of this journey. Thank you NDSS for allowing me to have this opportunity."
NDSS is excited to have Ms. Owen as a part of our team, continuing to spread the importance of the value, acceptance and inclusion of all people with Down syndrome.
