Let’s Be Thankful

Happy holidays! We are now in the holiday season.  I am thankful for my parents, family, relatives and friends.  We are thankful that we are together to mix and mingle and to enjoy each other for Thanksgiving.  What is more important is that people with Down syndrome have a right to be included in the celebrating. When the Pilgrims celebrated the first Thanksgiving they included Natives Americans by inviting them to celebrate.  One of my favorite episodes of Life Goes On was called A Thacher Thanksgiving.  It was the story about a homeless person by the name of Benji. The character Drew opened his restaurant to have Thanksgiving dinner with his family, Benji and his homeless friends.  Thanksgiving is about being thankful, helping others and inviting people to celebrate with you - -in other words, Thanksgiving is about inclusion
