Welcome and thank you for your interest in joining the National Down Syndrome Society's 1st Art Competition! We are inviting all individuals with Down syndrome in the United States to submit their artwork, new or old, in an expression of creativity and originality.
Age divisions consist of:
Three winners from each age division will be selected and featured in the following locations:
- NDSS Headquarters (New York and Washington DC)
- Select DC Businesses
- Select Congressional Offices
A panel of carefully selected judges will review all e-submissions and select the winners, who will then send in the physical art piece. All entries should relate in some way to the given topic.
The NDSS 1st Art Competition Topic is Self-Expression: A Day in the Life of You
The winning art will be displayed in congressional offices, NDSS Headquarters and DC businesses. The winners will be notified by January 13th, 2014.
Each entry must be original and created solely by the individual. Any piece of art in violation of U.S. copyright laws will not be accepted.
Please make sure that all entries are not needed for other purposes throughout the duration of the competion. We are unable to return winning artwork until the end of July.
All individuals with Down syndrome living in the United States are invited to participate in the competition. Participants are asked to submit a photo of their artwork to firstname.lastname@example.org. Be sure to include the following information in your email with your photo for submission:
- Phone number
- Short, but specific description
- Paint: acrylics, watercolor, oil, etc.
- Drawing: charcoal, colored pencil, ink, pastels, chalk, crayon (we request that charcoal/pastel drawings be fixed)
- Mixed Media: Use of two or more medium (Ex. A painting containing watercolor, ink and pastel)
Artwork must be two-dimensional, unless otherwise stated in topic.
Each piece must not exceed 16” x 24” in size.
Submissions must be sent before December 15th, 2013. All submissions received after that date will not be considered for the competition.
